Description

The Sharon Public Schools is seeking a 1.0 FTE special education teacher for students in the SOAR Program, grades 3-5 at Heights Elementary School.  

 

Elementary SOAR (Student Opportunities for Academic Readiness): Students in the SOAR program have their academic content provided in a smaller learning environment using Discrete Trial Training or ABA-based learning with social inclusion within the larger school community. While students typically have an Autism Spectrum Disorder, however this is not the case for all students.  

 

The successful candidate for this position will have experience with students with communication impairments and autism spectrum or related disorders.  Experience with Assistive Technology/AAC, IEP development, the team meeting process, assessment and evaluation- including report writing, and working with paraprofessionals preferred. Strong oral and written language skills as well as the ability to collaborate with colleagues and families is necessary.

 

This is a Long Term Substitute Position from 9/3/2024-12/1/2024.

 

DESE Licensure required: Teacher of Students with Severe Disabilities (All) or Teacher of Students with Moderate Disabilities (PreK-8). The additional DESE Autism Endorsement preferred.
